Hal - The Man
Hal (20), was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
He went to school in local town Bishops Castle, and throughout his time at the Community College he spend every Wednesday after school at the ‘Young Engineers’ club. He competed in many national competitions for designing and building products. The peak of his time at the club came when he and school mate Darren Hockly (now top Autograss class 7 driver) competed in the BBC TV Series ‘Techno Games’ winning Gold Medal in the Relay Race, using high speed radio controlled cars with clever batton-changing devices.
After leaving school, Hal stayed on at the Community College to study for his A Levels.
A Gap year followed, which incorporated work with travelling, he even returned from a trip to New Zealand to compete in the first round of the British Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill.
In September 2006 Hal also started his degree course at the University of Sunderland, studying Journalism and Photography.
At the start of his second year he joined the universities ‘formula student’ team, whereby a group of students design and build a single seater racing car, that is then used at an event at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in July, and possibly if funds allow a trip to Italy to compete on the continent later in the year.
