Hal Ridge
DOB – 3/4/1987
Hobbies – Rallycross, Squash, Photography

Hal’s first taste of Rallycross came in 3rd July 2005, after spending 2 years building his Stockhatch Class car himself with no previous mechanical knowledge.

Hal raced his Peugeot 205 GTi in the Stockhatch Catagory (which caters for 1.6 litre standard cars with safety modifications) in BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross until the end of 2007, achieving many A finals, and some podiums along the way.
In 2008, Hal decided to step up from Stockhatch into a higher class.

Having watched many events of the European Rallycross Championship, Hal decided to skip the ladder of levels in the UK and jump straight into the deep end of racing in the highly competitive circus. He spent 2008 racing his Peugeot in selected events, along with a couple of visits to Belgium and Holland to start to learn the European Circuits.

In 2009, Hal put racing himself to one side, allowing him to concentrate on his University Degree, and also allowing him the ability to hire his stockhatch car out to fund the build of his new car, a Super 1600 Clio.

With the help of many friends, and against all the odds, Hal achieved his goal of building and racing a Super1600 Category car in the European Rallycross Championship in 2010. To build a car with very few resources to the standard suitable for the European Championship has won Hal many accolades. This has included the addition to the Rallycross World Magazine of a monthly column by Hal, explaining his adventures.

2010 saw Hal compete in 4 rounds of the European Championship, including his ‘home’ event at Lydden Hill. Other events included Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. The year was seen as a learning year, and by the end of the season Hal, David Tulett and MB Motorsport had turned a car that was simply a conglomeration of many different parts to keep costs down into a competitive proposition.

Hal is well aware that he will never win an event of the ERC, but instead goes with the goal of upsetting the order, beating much better cars and most of all being part of the best motorsport championship in the world!

For 2011 Hal and MB Motorsport have redeveloped many areas of the Clio over the winter months, keep up to date with his progress right here!
